Her name, Pamela Susan Curson, was the daughter of a former Navy bomber, Columbus “Corky” Courson, who rose to the rank of Commander of the States Naval Reserve -United. Pamela’s father then worked as a high school principal in Villa Park, California. On the other hand, his mother has been identified as Pearl “Penny” Courson. Pamela was raised alongside a sibling – a sister named Judy.

A dive into her degrees and institutions attended revealed that she was educated at Orange High School, located in Orange, California. She continued her education at Los Angeles City College but her studies were never published by any source. It was at university that she met her soul mate Jim Morrison. The duo met in 1965 at London Fog on the Sunset Strip. The attraction that united them was strong and after a few years they began to live together in early 1967 and after a year of living together they presented themselves to the town hall of Angeles to register what was supposed to be their license of marriage. Nonetheless, their marriage never resulted in marriage, although Pamela Courson took her boyfriend’s surname, Morrison, later in their relationship.

According to Pamela Courson, she woke up on July 3, 1971 to find her boyfriend dead in the bathtub of their Paris apartment. The cause of death was heart failure, but no autopsy was performed on the corpse. Although Morrison and Pamela never legalized their relationship, Pam was named sole heiress to his will, but she was to inherit his fortune, but she had to fight a lawsuit, contesting the inheritance for the next two years. According to the report at the time, Pam was completely devastated by Morrison’s passing; she began to console herself with Sage – a golden retriever she had with him.

During her funeral no one came in black suits, songs like Orange Country Girl which Morrison composed with Pam in his mind were done by Ray Manzarek. Pamela’s parents subsequently inherited all of Morrison’s fortune, but her parents, Clara and George Morrison, contested the execution of their estate. This resulted in further legal battles which lasted until 1976, when the two sides reached a mutual agreement to divide the proceeds of Morrison’s estate equally.
