The Challenge contestant Rick has huge tattoo dedicated to all 18 grandchildren

Rick is the oldest contender in the new Netflix series, Squid Game: The Challenge, but he’s not letting it hold him back, as he formed an especially close bond with younger player Stephen.

Player 232 was even lucky enough to celebrate his 69th birthday in front of millions on the Netflix show. But we’re sure the only birthday present he wanted was a split of the huge cash prize, $4.56 million.

Rick has ‘the best birthday ever’ in Squid Game: The Challenge

Rick’s birthday got off to a flying start when he successfully got past the first game, Red Light Green Light.

He then got back to a hefty celebration with the Squid Games cast who sang Happy Birthday before erupting into cheers for the respected member.

However, the mood dipped pretty quickly when player 200 was eliminated soon after, in a shock twist.

Rick opens to the camera, surprising fans as he reveals he has a huge tattoo, encompassing his right leg up to his thigh. The story of his life is a tribute to his family. He has a large orchid flower on his leg with all 18 grandchild’s initials in.

Although he didn’t manage to go the full way, we’re sure his grandchildren will be super proud of how far he came.

The Pennsylvanian native did himself proud and can go back to the States with his head held high, and hopefully his Squid Game tattoo he was planning on getting.

Honestly, we’ve got our fingers crossed for a Rick and Stephen reality show if you’re listening, Netflix.

Rick’s close bond with player 243 Stephen lasted until the very end

In a tense environment, it’s nice to find your people, which is what Rick did with player 243, Stephen. He opened up to his fellow competitor in episode 3, explaining that he wasn’t planning on winning, with all the young’uns surrounding him.

“I was always hoping if I could help one person win that, it’s a win for me,” he said. Stephen said he didn’t know what he’d do if Rick got eliminated from Squid Game. “You’re the brightest light in here,” he said.

However, it wasn’t a happy ending for the two who unfortunately were both eliminated in episode 5, due to a test that took place in the player’s dorms.
