Secret Chef Cheffy voice is provided by actress and comedian Arden Myrin. Cheffy is an animated talking hat that doles out challenges in the show.

Hulu’s newest cooking show, Secret Chef, premiered on June 29, 2023. The entire season dropped all at once, featuring ten participants with varying degrees of skills in the kitchen.

Some are professional chefs, some are online influencers, some cook strictly at home, and so on and so forth.

But, no one in the competition knows anyone else’s skills as they are squared in isolated kitchens to maintain anonymity amongst the cast members and they all judge each other’s dish blind.

“Instead, you chefs will judge each other,” the hat continues. “But to make sure you judge fairly you’ll cook in secret, you’ll taste in secret and you’ll judge in secret.”

Myrin, who voices Cheffy, is an American actress and comedian, known for portraying Regina Sinclair in the Netflix series Insatiable.

Who Won Secret Chef on Hulu?

Anthony “Lanky” Langston won Secret Chef on Hulu. The final two contestants were Leon Brunson(Chef Donut) and Lanky (Chef Macron).

The 10 chefs competed in bizarre cooking challenges, with one contestant eliminated in each episode. Secret Chef season 1 consists of 10 episodes, all dropped at once.

Here, the contestants cook under nicknames: Lanky is Chef Macron, Leon is Chef Donut, Stephenie Simmons is Chef Couscous, Joshua Walbolt is Chef Arugala, Anthony Bar is Chef Blueberry, and so on.

A considerable amount of screen time is given to the participants to guess who their partner is during the tag-team challenge.

Cheffy gives a challenge winner the chance to ask another contestant a question about their cooking, saying they may need it later in the game.

After the challenge, the contestants are told whose dishes were at the top and bottom. But they are asked to keep it by themselves. The winner stands stoically as their identity is announced as the winner.

In the end, it’s Lanky and Leon who make it to the finale. “And your peers are, once again, your judges,” says Cheffyy ahead of the final challenge.

Lanky and Leon were tasked to cook starter, main course, and dessert for the judging panel in three hours.

Cheffy announced the highest-rated menu was Scallop Crudo, Beef Teriyaki, and Chocolate Orange Crostini. With this, Lanky became the very first winner of Hulu’s Secret Chef Season 1.

“Congratulations Chef Macron,” said Chang. “You have won Secret Chef!” jumped Cheffy with joy. “I just won Secret Chef,” shouted Lanky with delight.

Where Is Secret Chef Filmed?

Secret Chef was filmed on-set in Atlanta, Georgia, over three weeks. The chefs were isolated in a secret underground kitchen labyrinth attached by a series of conveyor belts.

The principal photography for the inaugural season reportedly began in June 2022 and wrapped up in July of the same year.

Most of the pivotal sequences for the show are lensed in Atlanta. The team utilizes the features of one of the film studios to build a colorful and isolated set for the competition series.

There are several film studios in and around Atlanta, including Typer Perry Studios, Third Rail Studios, Shadowbox Studios, and Trillith Studios.

In June 2023, Santos, one of the contestants, sat down in an interview with Sun Sentinel. There she was asked if it was wild being on the set of Secret Chef.

“It was wild! I basically walked onto a set with nine strangers with different backgrounds in the culinary world, from professionals to home cooks,” she replied.
