The co-founder of Canana Films is the son of FionaAlexander (mother) and Alejandro Luna (father). Fiona, of English and Scottish descent, was a costume designer who spent her working years in the film industry. She died two years after having Diego. Her husband is a renowned cinema/theater/opera artificer and arts and theater promoter. Luna owes his success in the field of art to Father, who regularly brought him to the sets and also guided him in several aspects of the art.

Until March 2013, Diego Luna was married toCamila Sodi, a Mexican model and actress. The couple married on February 5, 2008 and divorced five years later. Their marital relationship, however, did not end without children, as they share two children, Fiona Luna (born July 1, 2010) and Jerónimo (born August 12, 2008). Diego’s youngest child was named after his mother.
